3 Summer Theme Ideas for your Kids Yoga Classes

Hello Yoga Teachers!

If you are looking for some inspiration for your upcoming kids yoga classes, here are a few of our favourite themes for the Summer Season!

Waterworld Theme!

This fun theme is all about ADVENTURE±! You can start off your class packing your bags with everything you need for your trip (snacks, a towel, your costume and sunblock!) When you arrive at Waterworld, put up your umbrella (Tree pose) where you will be for the day. From here we are off to the lazy river (Boat pose) and the Slip and Slide (Rock and roll from lying to seated). You can add a few more fun poses and activities in before finishing off with Bumble Bee Breath and a nice relaxation!

Camping Theme

This is one of our favourites! Get your camping gear ready for a fun weekend adventure! Start by pitching your tent (Downward Facing Dog), which also happens to be next to a beautiful waterfall (Forward fold). You can also make your fire (Squat pose) while rubbing your hands together to feel some heat. Incorporate other fun aspects like tree pose and even rolling yourself up in the mat for savasana - just like a smore!

To the Carnival

This theme works well with lots of fun games and activities. You can warm up by playing carnival music and playing Yoga Statues. Come into Butterfly pose, and stir with your hands, as you make Candyfloss. The group can become a merry-go round, holding hands and walking in a circle as a group.

Woodchopper breath is also a great breathwork to bring in, mimicing the “whack-a-mole” game!
