3 Spring Inspired Breathing Techniques for Kids

Spring is here and this is a special time to link the season to our yoga activities!Breathing games in yoga are a smart way of making breathing ‘’fun’’ for our children. Bringing the fun element to breathing makes our yogis want to engage with their breath and by engaging with their breath, the mind body connection fires up. Often after our breathing games our yogis will say they feel ‘’calm’’ or ‘’happy’’. Two feelings we would love our yogis to know how to tap into in their everyday lives.

Here are 3 of our favourite spring inspired breathwork techniques:

Rainbow Breath

Children can use a printable rainbow or just pretend there is one there! It is a simple breathing game, with one finger follow the rainbow colour by colour from the ‘’breathe in’’ side to the ‘’breathe out’’ side. Repeat this as many times as the children would like, the more the better.

Flower Breathing

Flower breathing follows a similar principle. You can have all the kiddies draw a flower, or print one out for them. Inhale as you trace from the centre of the flower up the petal, exhale down and back to the centre.

Bumble Bee Breath

Bumble bee breath is one of our favourites! Have the kiddies block their ears. On your exhale, make a humming sound and hear the magic of the bumble bee!
